Clearing your Garden of Thoughts

In the book of Robin S Sharma, "The Monk who sold his ferarri",
he mentioned about our minds as a very huge garden
and the flowers that spring are because of our good thoughts
and the weeds or wild flowers that grow are because of a bad or negative thought

so, just like an alarm clock needs a change of battery, an electrical appliance needs maintenance, a car engine needs to be serviced, so does a garden needs to be cleared up from the wild flowers or wild grass that grows.
a beautiful garden is a garden which is kept clear of wild flowers or unwanted grass.

so how do we remove or clear all these unwated grass or wild flowers from our garden
how do we remove all the bad thoughts from our mind..??

well..
in a garden there are two ways of doing it..

the first method which is simple but yet there's a flaw in it.
the first method is just to cut the wild grass. that's it. simple right.
but the problem of the wild grass doesnt start on the part of it which is above the ground.
it starts from the roots, so by just cutting up the grass from above the ground, the problem is not fully solved. after some time the grass will grow back again.
similary if we have a bad thought or negative feeling. by just neglecting it, or just forgetting about it, doesnt actually solve the real problem

so what is the second method of removing the unwanted grass from our garden?
the second method is to remove the grass by the roots
when we take the whole unwanted grass out by the root, we leave nothing behind
so it's clean
but there's no guarentee that the wild grass wont grow again
it would..but it would take a long time to grow or it would grow on another location
similarly in our minds, we should remove the bad thought or negative problem by going down to the root of the problem and clearing it there.
and how do we do this.?

i would use some quotations from some great people to guide you through this

Our life is what our thoughts make it. A man will find that as he alters his thoughts toward things and other people, things and other people will alter towards him.
~James Allen~

All that we are is the result of what we have thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him.
~ Buddha ~

It is what a man thinks of himself that really determines his fate.
~ Henry David Thoreau ~

If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought.
~ Peace Pilgrim ~

The Ancestors to every action is a thought
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~

im sure that we are given the capabilities to cultivate our own garden
and that we can if we think we can..
